Add a SIP carrier

Panel page: Terminators (Ctrl K → terminators)

A SIP carrier is a terminator too. It is set up like a gateway port, with two differences: it usually carries many calls at once, and it is often reached by IP address instead of logging in.

  1. Terminators → Add.
  2. Name: the carrier and the route, for example carrierA-ng.
  3. Choose the connection mode where the switch sends calls to an address, and enter the carrier’s IP address and port (usually 5060).
  4. Channel limit: what the carrier agreed to, or empty for no limit.
  5. Save.
  6. Give the carrier the switch address we sent you so they can allow your traffic. Carriers that filter by IP will refuse your calls until they add it.

Some carriers give you a user and password instead. Choose the registering mode and enter the user, password and the carrier’s server address.

Carriers often want the number in a given format: with or without a country code, or with a technical prefix in front. Set the number rewrite on the terminator so the dialled number leaves in the form the carrier expects. Ask the carrier for one example of a correct number before you start.
